Workers Uniting Group - Nottingham Meeting

The broad based left-progressive organisation within Unite the Union, Workers Uniting Group will be holding national meeting on Sunday, February 1st at The Hillside Sports and Social Club, 357a Derby Road,
Lenton, Nottingham NG7 2DZ.

Workers Uniting Group consists of the diverse political and cultural heritage of the unions that created Unite: Amicus (AEEU, MSF, GPMU and Unifi) and the TGWU.

Unite is a campaigning trade union, fighting for the interests of its members in every sector, every region and at every level - from local workplaces, branches, chapels, regions, nationally and internationally.

Guest Speaker at the meeting will be Derek Simpson Joint General Secretary Unite the Union, who will speak on the policies that are making Unite a trade union to be reckoned with - a union that campaigns and fights for its members - in every sector - manufacturing, public services, the car industry, construction, transport, energy, finance, print, communications, civil aviation, the health service.

He will also outline how Unite is fighting to protect jobs and employment, putting pressure on the Government to support industry and the finance sector, support for UK workers in construction, better employment rights, opposition to the anti-union laws and the ECJ Judgements and why we created a new Global Union with the Steelworkers in the USA and Canada - Workers Uniting.

He will also outline Unite's new democratic structure now also in place so that thousands of our union reps and activists can play their part in shaping the future of the union.

The meeting commences at 11.00am
